
Bhubaneswar, March 6: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah is currently on a visit to Odisha. Chief Minister Mohan Chara Majhi welcomed him at the Bhubaneswar airport on Friday. During his visit, Shah will participate in various events.
In a post shared on the social media platform ‘X’, Chief Minister Majhi stated that Amit Shah will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate various projects worth approximately ₹3,300 crores. He emphasized that strong coordination between the central and state governments will accelerate Odisha’s development.
According to sources, Amit Shah will travel to Paradip, where he will inaugurate the Sulfuric Acid Plant of the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited. Following this, he will launch new initiatives related to the cooperative and dairy sectors in Bhubaneswar.
At an event in Bhubaneswar, Shah will inaugurate various initiatives at the IDCO Exhibition Ground. On this occasion, Odisha’s new state cooperative policy will also be released. Additionally, he will participate in the establishment program of a new school under Tribhuvan Cooperative University. A memorandum of understanding will be signed for the revival of Badamba Sugar Industries, which is expected to enhance local employment opportunities and strengthen the cooperative industry.
During the program, the Union Home Minister will also inaugurate 1,567 common service centers, which will be operated by primary agricultural credit societies and large-scale agricultural multipurpose societies. Furthermore, a virtual inauguration of essential infrastructure for 141 PACS will take place. Through these centers, farmers and the general public in rural areas will have access to government and digital services in one location, empowering cooperative institutions.
Amit Shah’s visit is anticipated to bolster development, the cooperative sector, and the rural economy in Odisha. Additionally, several major investments and new initiatives will accelerate the state’s social and economic reforms.
In total, 69 projects will be inaugurated during this visit, with an estimated cost of around ₹1,159.03 crores. Furthermore, the foundation stone for 130 new projects worth ₹2,116.06 crores will also be laid. The government asserts that all these initiatives aim to strengthen the cooperative sector.
