Andhra Pradesh Grants Legal Status to Amaravati as Permanent Capital, Celebrations with Farmers

Mumbai, April 2: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu celebrated with farmers in Amaravati on Thursday. This celebration followed the passage of a bill in Parliament that grants Amaravati the legal status as the sole and permanent capital of Andhra Pradesh.

The Chief Minister, accompanied by his wife Nara Bhuvaneshwari, participated in the ‘Deepa Aarti’ ceremony at Undavalli, the same location where Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone in 2015.

In a gesture of respect, Chief Minister Naidu knelt at the foundation site, inspecting the plaque and performing rituals.

During his address, he stated that the bill passed by Parliament now provides Amaravati with an unchangeable legal status as the capital of Andhra Pradesh. He described this moment as historic, honoring the will of the people.

He remarked, “The success of Amaravati will be inscribed in golden letters in India’s history. The sacrifices made by farmers who gave their land will always be remembered.”

The leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) claimed that after facing numerous conspiracies, “we have reclaimed our capital.”

Chief Minister Naidu emphasized that Amaravati now has a permanent legal foundation, establishing an identity for the state that had previously been lacking. He also acknowledged the support from state leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, during the movement.

He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and all political leaders who supported the bill. He stated that Amaravati is not just a capital but a symbol of Telugu pride and self-respect.

Naidu mentioned that after the completion of construction work, Prime Minister Modi is expected to visit Amaravati again to inaugurate some projects.

Criticizing the opposition, particularly the YSR Congress Party, the Chief Minister noted that they walked out during crucial discussions on the capital and failed to support the proposal in the assembly.

Ministers and public representatives attended the event. Earlier, farmers and women warmly welcomed Chief Minister Naidu and his wife Nara Bhuvaneshwari.
