April 16: A Significant Day for Women, Says Union Minister Annapurna Devi

New Delhi, April 3: Union Minister Annapurna Devi announced that April 16 will be a significant day for women regarding the Women Reservation Bill.

In a recent media interaction, she emphasized the pivotal decisions being made under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi to empower women. “These decisions could not have been made earlier or later; the Prime Minister’s goal is to uplift women,” she stated.

Devi reiterated that April 16 could mark a monumental day for women. Since 2014, under PM Modi’s leadership, continuous decisions have been made to promote women’s empowerment. The introduction of the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ is a testament to the Prime Minister’s unwavering commitment to women’s advancement. She believes that this day could bring even greater gifts for women, as their leadership in development aligns with PM Modi’s vision for a developed India.

BJP leader JP Nadda highlighted that the opposition, led by Congress, failed to pass the Women Reservation Bill for 30 years, while it was passed in just two days under PM Modi’s leadership. He urged the opposition to view issues through the lens of humanity, women’s empowerment, and the vision of a developed India. Nadda expressed confidence that when 33% of women represent the nation in Parliament, it will symbolize a developed and empowered India.

BJP MP Rekha Sharma welcomed the bill, stating that they have always stood by women and have worked for their welfare. She noted that this demand was made by women across all parties. Although there was a delay in the bill’s passage, PM Modi has fulfilled his promise of fostering women-led development in India.

Congress MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh acknowledged that there might be differing opinions on the timing of the bill but asserted that no party opposed the Women Reservation Bill. He mentioned that all parties had previously agreed to its passage. However, he pointed out that the government’s strategy is now clear, as the session scheduled for today was postponed due to the Bengal elections.
