New Delhi, June 3: Dr. Virendra Singh Solanki, the National General Secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, addressed a press conference following the National Executive Council meeting held in Bhubaneswar. He highlighted several key issues concerning the organization.
The meeting took place from May 29 to 31 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, with participation from student representatives and activists from across the country. Prior to this, a central working committee meeting was held on May 27, attended by over a hundred prominent activists.
At the outset of the press conference, Dr. Solanki referenced a recent fire incident in Delhi that claimed several lives. He expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, extending condolences to the victims’ families and wishing a swift recovery for the injured. He emphasized that such incidents are tragic and that the administration must take responsibility. Often, lapses in safety protocols lead to preventable disasters.
Following this, he provided detailed insights into the three-day National Executive Council meeting. Discussions encompassed critical topics such as education, societal issues, women’s safety, global conditions, and the goal of a Naxal-free India. Over 450 representatives, including state-level officials, university representatives, and student leaders, participated in the meeting.
Dr. Solanki noted that a civic reception was held in Bhubaneswar on May 28, attended by distinguished citizens, educators, and members of the Vidyarthi Parishad. The Chief Minister of Odisha was the chief guest, who acknowledged the organization as a vital student body contributing to nation-building through personality development. The National Executive Council meeting, which began on May 29, extensively discussed the current social and educational conditions in the country, including the quality of the education system, women’s issues, India’s global role, and the situation in Naxal-affected areas.
He stressed the need for several reformative measures to strengthen the education system, pointing out existing flaws in the implementation of these reforms. For instance, the NEET examination system was established to ensure equal opportunity and uniformity, yet various issues have emerged in its execution. A thorough investigation into these discrepancies is necessary, and strict action should be taken against those responsible to maintain the transparency and credibility of the education system.
Dr. Solanki clarified that the Vidyarthi Parishad is committed to advocating for the interests of students nationwide and will continue to strengthen its role in educational reforms in the future.
