Rampur, July 22: A delegation from Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) visited Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Rampur to express support for the university administration, faculty, and students. The delegation raised concerns over ongoing demolition orders against the university and submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Uttar Pradesh through the District Magistrate.
The delegation urged the state government to immediately halt any demolition activities on the university campus to safeguard the academic interests of thousands of students.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has called for an immediate stop to the order to demolish 38 buildings on the campus. The organization highlighted that the deadline of July 30 is approaching, and any demolition would severely impact the students.
They stated that if 38 out of the university’s 40 buildings were demolished, the institution’s existence would be nearly obliterated, affecting the education of approximately 3,000 students.
Through the memorandum submitted to the Governor via the District Magistrate, the delegation requested intervention in the matter. The memorandum emphasized the need to protect students’ right to education and the constitutional identity of the institution.
The organization also demanded that the case be brought before a competent court to address the validity of the demolition orders and jurisdictional issues raised by the university.
The delegation noted that a significant number of economically and socially disadvantaged students are enrolled at the university, many of whom receive fee concessions. Large-scale demolitions could adversely affect the academic future of thousands of students.
They urged the government to consider alternatives such as regularization instead of demolition, ensuring that no student’s education is disrupted due to administrative actions.
The JIH delegation included National Secretary Maulana Mohammad Shafi Madani, Mohammad Ahmad, Assistant Secretary Inamurrahman, JIH Uttar Pradesh West President Maulana Jameerul Hasan Falahi, JIH Rampur President Maulana Abdussalam Bastavi, and senior journalist Syed Khaleeq Ahmad.
