Ram Mandir Trust Takes Firm Stance: Questions SBI, Appoints Spokesperson; CEO Selection Extended by One Month

Ayodhya, July 22: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust held a significant meeting of its board on Wednesday, addressing irregularities in the donation collection process, the role of the State Bank of India (SBI), the selection of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO), temple management, and the increasing number of devotees.

The Trust expressed dissatisfaction with SBI’s operations and directed the finance committee to review its relationship with the bank and standard procedures. Additionally, a spokesperson will be appointed to facilitate regular communication with the community, and the religious committee will be restructured to maintain the sanctity of worship.

According to a statement from Trust Secretary Krishna Mohan, the meeting, held in Ayodhya on the occasion of Ashadha Shukla Navami, reviewed arrangements in light of the anticipated increase in devotees during the month of Shravan. Discussions included the calculation of donations, filling vacant trustee positions, the CEO appointment process, and various issues related to temple administration.

The Trust noted that it has not yet received the final report from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating alleged irregularities in donation calculations. Consequently, a final decision on this matter remains pending. The board also acknowledged pending petitions in the Supreme Court and the court’s orders regarding the issue. The meeting reviewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SBI concerning donation calculations.

The Trust indicated that the bank’s response to errors and irregularities in fulfilling its responsibilities has not been adequately serious. The board expressed disappointment and instructed the finance committee to review future relations with SBI and its entire operational framework. The trustees also assessed the security arrangements for CCTV cameras installed in the temple complex.

It was reported that security personnel have ensured access to monitor all cameras, including those in the donation calculation room, which satisfied the board. Additionally, arrangements for verifying the quantity and purity of gold and silver donations in collaboration with the Reserve Bank of India’s mint will continue to ensure transparency and reliability.

The committee formed for selecting the CEO requested an additional month to complete the process, citing a large number of applications. The board approved this request. Furthermore, in light of the increasing number of devotees, the appointment of a secretary was approved to ensure administrative functions are not disrupted due to delays in the CEO appointment.

Despite various recent allegations and misinformation, the Trust stated that the number of devotees visiting the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple has not diminished. This, according to the Trust, is a testament to the unwavering faith and trust of millions of Ram devotees. The board also expressed gratitude to the saint community, devotees from across the country and abroad, and the people of the Awadh region. It was decided that the Trust will appoint an official spokesperson to disseminate official information related to the temple and maintain regular communication with the media and the public.

The board reviewed the appointment process for vacant trustee positions within the Trust and noted that it may take a few more weeks to complete this important process. Additionally, the religious committee has been restructured to uphold the traditional authenticity, religious decorum, and sanctity of worship within the temple complex.

The committee, chaired by Swami Govind Dev Giri, includes members such as Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati, Swami Vishwaprasannatirth, Swami Yugpurush Paramanand, Swami Dinendradass, Swami Kamalnayan Dass, Mahant Rajkumar Das, Swami Ramanand Das, and Swami Mithileshnandini Sharan.
