Murshidabad, August 5: Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury responded to the recent bust of an ISI-backed terrorist module in Amritsar, urging heightened vigilance against security threats. He also criticized Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s comments regarding the Ram Temple donation controversy.
Speaking to the media in Murshidabad, Chowdhury emphasized the need for caution regarding terrorist activities. “We have not completely emerged from the threat of terrorism. Various conspiracies are underway to weaken our country with the help of Pakistan and China, and terrorists are being supported. We must remain alert,” he stated.
Chowdhury recalled the removal of Article 370, noting that he was present in the assembly when it happened. He referred to a resolution passed in the 1990s declaring that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir is also part of India. “Home Minister Amit Shah has stated that we will reclaim Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. I asked if you could bring even one apple from a tree in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. We cannot claim that everything is normal in Kashmir. The region deserves statehood, a promise made by the government that remains unfulfilled,” he added.
He pointed out that terrorist attacks in Kashmir continue. Recently, a police officer stationed for the Amarnath Yatra was killed, followed by the murder of laborers. A significant terrorist incident also occurred in Pahalgam. “The rationale behind the removal of Article 370 was to eliminate terrorism, but that goal has not yet been achieved. Terrorist incidents persist in the Kashmir Valley, and the government must acknowledge this,” Chowdhury asserted.
Regarding the Ram Temple donation theft, Chowdhury accused the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister of attempting to mislead the public. “Despite being associated with Baba Gorakhnath, the Chief Minister is trying to deceive people, which is an insult to the devotees. People donate with faith and devotion. A committee was formed in the assembly for the temple’s management, and the Prime Minister himself announced it. Why is this committee now distancing itself from responsibilities related to the construction and maintenance of the Ram Temple?” he questioned.
He added that accepting fault is not wrong, yet Chief Minister Yogi is blaming others. “Who committed the theft? How did this incident occur? Why was an FIR not filed before the SIT investigation? Instead of covering up, the government should clarify the truth,” he concluded.
