Afghanistan Shaken by 5.3 Magnitude Earthquake, Continues to Face Seismic Activity

Afghanistan, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : A 5.3 magnitude earthquake rattled Afghanistan early Thursday morning, according to the National Center for Seismology. The tremors were felt at 6:59 AM local time. Fortunately, there have been no reports of damage or injuries.

Afghanistan has been experiencing a series of earthquakes this year. Just weeks prior, on September 7, a 4.1 magnitude quake was recorded at 5:36 AM, also without any reported damage. This earthquake originated from a depth of 130 kilometers.

Earlier in August, residents in the eastern Nangarhar province felt a stronger tremor, measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale, which resulted in 15 injuries.

In June, the country faced significant seismic activity when a 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck at 7:19 PM on June 27. This quake was powerful enough to be felt in Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, and several other northern states in India.

The National Center for Seismology in India confirmed that the epicenter of this earthquake was located in Afghanistan. The agency noted that the tremors were felt widely across the region.

Additionally, on September 10, a 4.6 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Tajikistan at 5:51 AM IST, with its epicenter approximately 213 kilometers northeast of Faizabad, Afghanistan, at a depth of 132 kilometers.

As Afghanistan continues to cope with these seismic events, the frequency and intensity of the earthquakes remain a concern for residents and authorities alike.
