Modi and Trump Discuss Global Issues in Productive Phone Call

New Delhi, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump held a productive phone conversation recently, confirming their commitment to deepening bilateral relations. Sergio Gore, the U.S. Ambassador to India, announced the call on social media, stating that it was a very good discussion.

During the call, both leaders addressed several significant topics, including global peace and security. Modi echoed this sentiment on social media, highlighting their discussions on trade, defense, energy, and essential technologies. He noted their agreement to maintain close ties to advance their comprehensive global strategic partnership.

This phone call marks the first direct conversation between the two leaders since their meeting on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Evian, France, in June. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing the India-U.S. global strategic partnership and agreed to keep in touch for the benefit of their nations.

The leaders also exchanged views on regional and international developments, emphasizing ongoing efforts to promote global peace and security. Reports suggest that senior U.S. officials have outlined an ambitious roadmap to expand U.S.-India relations, indicating plans for a presidential visit to India early next year.

Earlier in June, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Ambassador Gore described the U.S.-India relationship as one of the strongest periods ever, focusing on trade, defense, energy, and increased cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
