Lucknow, August 5: The Uttar Pradesh Assembly’s monsoon session was adjourned indefinitely on Wednesday due to continuous disruptions by the opposition. After the session concluded, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a sharp attack on the Samajwadi Party, accusing them of obstructing meaningful discussions on the supplementary budget and crucial public welfare proposals.
He stated that the opposition revealed its anti-democratic and anti-development stance in the Assembly. In a conversation with the media, the Chief Minister condemned the Samajwadi Party’s behavior as completely unconstitutional and undemocratic. He alleged that the party’s character is against the interests of Dalits, backward classes, farmers, youth, women, and the poor, and their conduct in the House was not in line with democratic norms.
CM Yogi emphasized that the government had introduced additional financial provisions through the supplementary budget to benefit part-time teachers, instructors, and other low-paid staff, but the opposition did not allow discussions on these matters. He noted that his government increased the honorarium for part-time teachers from ₹10,000 to ₹18,000 and for instructors from ₹9,000 to ₹17,000. Additionally, both groups were provided cashless health facilities up to ₹500,000.
The Chief Minister further mentioned that the supplementary budget included provisions for basic facilities like canopies and boundary walls for memorials and statues dedicated to great personalities and saints committed to social justice. He accused the Samajwadi Party of attempting to block these public welfare proposals, although the Assembly ultimately approved the supplementary budget.
He remarked that disrespecting low-paid workers serving the public reflects the mindset of the Samajwadi Party. He alleged that the previous SP government had also jeopardized the future of part-time teachers, while the current government is consistently working to protect their interests.
Earlier, as the question hour began, the opposition created a ruckus over issues such as alleged donations theft at the Ram Temple, teacher recruitment, paper leaks, and other matters. Due to the uproar, the proceedings were suspended for the first half-hour and later until 1 PM. Even after the session resumed, the disruptions continued. Amid the chaos, the government presented and passed several important bills.
Subsequently, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna proposed to adjourn the House indefinitely, which was accepted by the Chair.
