New Delhi, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the bravery of Indian pilot Captain Smita Machhar, who faced a violent attack during a Flydubai flight. Despite being seriously injured, Captain Machhar remained committed to ensuring the safety of his passengers and crew.
In a post on social media platform X, Modi referred to Captain Machhar as a hero. He expressed admiration for the pilot’s courage, stating that he demonstrated remarkable bravery in the face of grave danger. “His actions saved hundreds of lives and averted a major tragedy,” Modi wrote. He also wished for the pilot’s swift recovery and return to good health.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also praised Captain Machhar’s extraordinary bravery. He acknowledged that despite being severely injured during the attack, the pilot displayed exceptional courage. In his post on X, Netanyahu expressed his concern for Machhar’s well-being and referred to him as a “true hero.”
According to Netanyahu, Captain Machhar was stabbed during the incident but bravely fought back against the assailant. He opened the cockpit door, allowing passengers and crew members to assist in subduing the attacker. Netanyahu noted that the pilot’s swift actions prevented a potential aviation disaster, saving the lives of 174 individuals, including Israeli citizens and others.
These remarks come as international recognition grows for Captain Machhar’s role in averting danger on Flydubai Flight FZ1073. Israeli Ambassador Reuven Azar also commended the pilot and the passengers and crew who helped neutralize the threat. He expressed his prayers for Machhar’s recovery, describing him as an experienced and talented pilot.
Azar shared on X, “I join others in praying for the life of Captain Smita Machhar, the skilled Indian pilot of Flydubai Flight FZ1073. He is a hero.” He emphasized that the bravery of both the pilot and the Israeli and Emirati passengers and crew was crucial in saving the lives of everyone on board.
