AAP Questions Chefs Arrest in Malviya Nagar Fire Incident

New Delhi, June 8: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has raised concerns regarding the arrest of a hotel chef in connection with the Malviya Nagar fire incident. Senior party leader and Burari MLA Sanjeev Jha accused the government and investigative agencies of mishandling the situation. He claimed that the focus on a poor, migrant worker is an attempt to shield those truly responsible for the tragedy.

Jha stated that the devastating fire at the hotel has resulted in the confirmed deaths of 22 individuals. Following the incident, the Delhi government promised a thorough investigation and strict action against those at fault. However, Jha expressed skepticism, suggesting that the investigation is not reaching the actual culprits.

He pointed out that chef Keshav Negi is being portrayed as the main suspect. According to Jha, it appears that Negi is being held solely accountable for the illegal construction, hotel operations, and neglect of safety standards. He questioned why the relevant departments and officials are not being held responsible if the hotel was operating illegally and safety protocols were ignored.

Jha emphasized that Negi, a migrant worker from Uttarakhand, is being scapegoated in the name of the investigation. He accused the administration of assuming that no one would advocate for a simple employee, thus attempting to place all blame on him.

The MLA urged the Delhi government to conduct an impartial investigation into the fire incident and hold accountable all individuals who overlooked safety regulations or failed in their duties. He asserted that if the government is genuinely fair, it should take equal action against the major offenders.

Jha also stated that the Aam Aadmi Party will not allow any injustice to occur against Keshav Negi. If bias is shown during the investigation, the party will raise its voice against it.
