Ukraine Intensifies Drone Strikes Against Russia, Targeting Key Military Installations

New Delhi, August 21: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has asserted that the country will continue its long-range attacks against Russia. He reported that Ukrainian strikes on Thursday night targeted Russia’s Perm oil refinery, the Marinovka military airfield, and other military sites.

Zelensky took to the social media platform X to state, “We are maintaining our long-range strategy of retaliation to bring the consequences of war back to where it started. Last night, our long-range attacks hit the Perm oil refinery, located over 1,600 kilometers from the border, and the Marinovka military airfield in Russia’s Volgograd region. We also achieved some results in the Black Sea area.”

He added that they have confirmed results from previous attacks, noting that a Russian SU-34 fighter jet was damaged at the Akhtubinsk airfield, situated nearly 600 kilometers from the front lines.

Additionally, Zelensky mentioned that in Primorsko-Akhtarsk, approximately 180 kilometers away, they targeted a storage, preparation, and launch center for attacking drones, which Russia uses to strike at Ukrainian forces.

He emphasized that Russia’s deadly attacks continue unabated. On Wednesday night, Russia inflicted significant damage across Ukraine. Zelensky indicated that Russia had been preparing for this assault for a long time, employing a combination of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones to maximize damage to civilian infrastructure. Areas around Kyiv, as well as Odesa and Chernihiv, have suffered considerable destruction.

In response, Zelensky announced new sanctions against individuals connected to Russia’s military-industrial complex and those supporting it. He stated that Ukraine would coordinate its sanctions with international partners.
