New Delhi, August 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared an inspiring quote on the social media platform ‘X’ on Friday. He wrote, “The continuous flow of rivers teaches us how to use our strengths for the betterment of humanity. This spirit of selfless service, dedication, and philanthropy gives the nation a new direction.”
In his post, PM Modi shared a Sanskrit verse: “जीवनं स्वं परार्थाय नित्यं यच्छत मानवाः. इति सन्देशमाख्यातुं समुद्रं यान्ति निम्नगाः॥” The Hindi translation emphasizes that humans should dedicate their lives to serving and uplifting others. Just as rivers flow selflessly, nourishing countless beings along their path before merging into the sea, individuals should utilize their lives and strengths for the benefit of others. The essence of human life lies in selfless service, philanthropy, and public welfare.
On the previous day, the Prime Minister also shared another Sanskrit verse: “आपत्काले च कष्टेऽपि नोत्साहस्त्यज्यते बुधैः.” This translates to wise individuals understanding that even in times of crisis and difficulty, they should never lose their enthusiasm.
While sharing the quote on Wednesday, PM Modi conveyed the message to always engage in philanthropic and welfare activities. He posted, “एतावज्जन्मसाफल्यं देहिनामिह देहिषु. प्राणैरर्थैर्धिया वाचा श्रेय एवाचरेत्सदा॥” This verse means that the true fulfillment of human life lies in performing acts of kindness and welfare through physical strength, wealth, intellect, and speech for the benefit of other beings.
