New Delhi, June 8: The hotel owner Lovkesh Bajaj and cook Keshav Negi, arrested in connection with the Malviya Nagar fire incident, were presented in Saket Court on Monday.

Following the conclusion of their police remand, both were brought before the court. The court extended Lovkesh Bajaj’s police remand by an additional two days, while Keshav Negi was sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

Prior to this, on June 6, the Delhi Police arrested cook Keshav Negi. Investigations revealed that the fire was due to the cook’s negligence. Officials discovered multiple violations of safety regulations and significant deficiencies in the building’s fire safety infrastructure during their inquiry.

In addition to Lovkesh Bajaj, the police have also arrested other suspects, Sweety Sagar and Pushpo Sagar, in this case.

Tragically, the incident resulted in the deaths of at least 22 individuals, including several foreign nationals. Among the deceased, 9 were Indian, while 13 were from countries including Bangladesh, Liberia, Nigeria, and Mozambique.

Rescue operations successfully evacuated 47 individuals from the building. According to a statement from Max Hospital in Saket, 14 patients are currently admitted, 13 of whom are foreign nationals. All patients on ventilators are stable and showing signs of improvement.
