Chennai, June 8: Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai has announced that approximately 1.7 million people have joined his new political movement, “We the Leaders,” within just three days of its launch. He described this surge in membership as a strong indication of the desire for political change in Tamil Nadu.
In a message shared on social media, Annamalai expressed gratitude for the widespread support the movement has received. He emphasized that this initiative aims to bring about political transformation in Tamil Nadu.
Annamalai stated, “I sincerely thank all my brothers, sisters, and friends. Our ‘We the Leaders’ movement, initiated to foster political change in Tamil Nadu, has reached nearly 1.7 million members in just three days, thanks to your love and support.”
He noted that this achievement is merely the beginning and expressed confidence that the movement will emerge as a significant force in the state’s political landscape in the future.
Annamalai also mentioned that efforts to strengthen the organizational structure are ongoing, and qualified individuals will soon be identified and assigned various responsibilities.
He clarified, “Currently, everyone, including myself, is merely a part of this movement. No one has been given any official position or responsibility yet. Suitable individuals will be selected and assigned responsibilities shortly.”
The former BJP leader made it clear that there will be no permanent positions within the movement. He explained that the first month of the organization’s activities is dedicated solely to the membership campaign, focusing on increasing membership across Tamil Nadu.
Annamalai advised his supporters to be cautious of organizations and groups that are allegedly using his name and image without permission. He accused some volunteers of creating separate organizations under his name and appointing district-level officials, which have no connection to his “We the Leaders” movement.
He specifically mentioned organizations like Annamalai Anbu Kootam, Annamalai Charitable Foundation, and Annamalai People’s Movement, stating that they have no official ties to his new political initiative.
Annamalai revealed that letters had been sent to several organizations months ago, requesting them to cease using his name. He urged all such groups to immediately stop using his name, image, and branding.
He encouraged those interested in joining the movement to register only through the official website and to avoid unauthorized platforms or organizations for membership.
