Andhra Pradesh Shooting Coach Sent to Judicial Custody Over Murder and Suicide Incitement Case

Kakinada, August 25: A court in Andhra Pradesh has placed a rifle shooting academy coach under judicial custody for 14 days in connection with a murder and suicide incitement case.

Sadiq Khan, the founder and coach of the Pro Shooting Academy, was arrested four days ago in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. He was brought to Andhra Pradesh on Monday.

Following police interrogation, he was presented in court, which ordered his two-week judicial custody. He has since been transferred to Kakinada sub-jail. According to police, Khan faces additional charges of forced conversion and extortion.

On August 16, Nuka Raju (61), an assistant engineer in the Panchayat Raj department, along with his wife Meena (58), daughter Saujanya (38), and 10-year-old grandson Kartikeya Reddy, jumped into the Godavari River from a road-rail bridge in Rajahmundry.

Fishermen rescued the 10-year-old boy, who was found unconscious on an island in the river. However, the bodies of Nuka Raju, his wife, and daughter were recovered.

Police reported that a purported suicide note found in the car indicated that Nuka Raju accused Sadiq Khan of harassing his daughter after the death of her husband, Jagdish Reddy.

The note claimed that Khan threatened to kill Raju and his grandson after his marriage proposals were rejected, and he had also taken possession of the family’s valuables. Nuka Raju stated that the family’s decision to commit suicide was due to the atrocities faced by his daughter.

Based on the grandson’s statement and the suicide note, police registered a case under Section 108 of the Indian Penal Code for inciting suicide.

Later, Saujanya’s father-in-law, Reddy, also filed a complaint, alleging Khan’s involvement in his son Jagdish Reddy’s death. He claimed that Jagdish died due to a toxic substance injected into his body on July 2.

Reddy stated that after speaking with his grandson, who was training at Khan’s shooting academy, new information came to light. He alleged that Khan began visiting their home after Jagdish’s death and attempted to get close to Saujanya.

A case was registered at the Kakinada Sarapavam police station based on his complaint.

Kakinada Superintendent of Police G. Bindu Madhav reported that police teams from Kakinada and East Godavari arrested Sadiq Khan after tracking him across five states. He was ultimately apprehended in Meerut. Following his arrest, he was presented before a magistrate and brought to Andhra Pradesh on a transit warrant.

According to the SP, Khan avoided using mobile phones and online transactions to evade arrest. His location was traced to a friend’s house in Meerut with the help of technical evidence and human intelligence.

Separate FIRs have been filed based on the suicide notes of Nuka Raju and Saujanya, as well as Reddy’s complaint. The SP noted that Saujanya had been in a relationship with Sadiq Khan for some time.

Charges against him in Kakinada include murder, forced conversion, and extortion, while a case for inciting suicide has been registered in Rajahmundry.
