Kolkata, August 25: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has expressed his approval of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation’s (KMC) issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the Baranagar-Barrackpore Metro Corridor, also known as the Pink Line.
In a post on the social media platform X, Chief Minister Adhikari stated, “I wholeheartedly welcome the KMC’s issuance of the No Objection Certificate for the Baranagar-Barrackpore Metro Corridor along BT Road. This achievement marks a significant step towards enhancing the public transport system in Kolkata’s northern suburbs. It will greatly reduce travel time, alleviate traffic congestion on main roads, and provide passengers with a safe and modern public transport facility.”
He further emphasized that the progress on this 12-kilometer corridor demonstrates what can be achieved with strong administrative will. Alongside transport expansion, implementing robust safety measures for citizens, such as constructing a new dedicated pipeline for water supply, is crucial. This initiative will secure the city’s essential drinking water supply while paving the way for extensive transport infrastructure, exemplifying mutual coordination and sustainable development.
CM Adhikari noted that under the leadership of the BJP government, improved coordination among civic bodies, state, and central government officials will ensure that crucial public interest projects are completed swiftly and without hindrance. A government that collaborates to solve complex engineering challenges and enhances urban planning, along with a responsive administration, is vital for progress.
