Womens Participation in Indias Political System Secured: Sonia Nityanand

Lucknow, April 9: Sonia Nityanand, the Vice-Chancellor of KGMU and a Padma Shri awardee, has stated that the Women’s Reservation Bill ensures women’s participation in India’s political framework. She praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian government for this unprecedented initiative aimed at empowering women in the country.

Nityanand emphasized that this legislation will enable women to take on direct and active roles in politics. After 27 years of waiting, women in India are finally gaining this right. As a woman in this country, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and the Indian government for this achievement.

Social activist and Supreme Court lawyer Farah Faiz welcomed the bill, noting that it would be beneficial only if announced before elections. She warned that if introduced post-elections, it would lose its significance. Faiz highlighted that this law would empower women who have previously struggled to voice their concerns, thus benefiting them in elections.

Municipal councilor Gurbakhsh Rawat mentioned that the central government has committed to reserving seats for women in politics. Certain seats will be exclusively reserved for women candidates, allowing them to contest elections.

Councilor Alka Raghav from Laxmi Nagar expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Modi, stating that under his leadership, women’s empowerment has progressed more than in any previous government. She emphasized that this is not just a policy decision but a crucial step forward.
