Washington, July 28: President Donald Trump stated on Monday that his administration is rapidly replenishing the United States’ ammunition stockpile. He noted that the significant military aid provided to Ukraine during former President Joe Biden’s term had reduced the stockpile. However, Trump emphasized that the U.S. is fully prepared for any future conflicts.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One while en route to Michigan, Trump dismissed concerns about potential ammunition shortages in the event of a major conflict, particularly in the Middle East.
When asked if he was worried about dwindling weapon supplies, Trump replied, “No, we have the money. We have plenty of ammunition. Various types.”
He acknowledged that the U.S. has supplied a substantial amount of military equipment to Ukraine but assured that his administration is swiftly replenishing these stocks.
“You know, Biden has given a lot to Ukraine. So we are replenishing it, but we have plenty. We have a lot of mid-level weapons as well. I mean, so much that in any situation, we have more than we can use,” Trump stated.
The President compared the current situation to his first term, noting that he inherited a low ammunition stockpile from the Obama administration, which he later increased.
“When I left office, the stockpile was fully stocked. When I came in after Obama, they hadn’t bought ammunition. We had very little. And I increased it,” he explained.
Trump added, “Now, immediately after I left, they gave a huge portion to Ukraine. I mean, such a large number that has never been seen before.”
He mentioned that his administration is working extensively to strengthen the U.S. defense industry, with several new production facilities being established. “We are ramping it up very quickly. Factories are being built. A lot of equipment is being produced, especially the production of Patriot missiles. Every contractor is currently building four to five factories,” he noted.
Despite the need to replenish some modern weapon stocks, Trump asserted that the military position of the U.S. remains strong. “We are in a very good position. But for some more modern weapons, we would certainly like to keep more. Biden has given away a lot of these,” he concluded.
