West Bengal Welcomes 35 New Ministers in Cabinet Expansion

Kolkata, June 1: The West Bengal government, led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, welcomed 35 new ministers into its cabinet on Monday. In a ceremony held at Lok Bhawan in Kolkata, Governor R.N. Ravi administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers. Following the oath-taking, the ministers emphasized their commitment to ensuring that both central and state schemes reach every citizen.

BJP legislator Shankar Ghosh remarked that the first congratulations should go not to them, but to the people of West Bengal. He stated, “It is our responsibility, fulfilled with the blessings of the people, and thus the credit goes to those who made this possible.”

Another BJP legislator, Anandamoy Barman, asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has now formed a government in West Bengal. He described it as a “double-engine government,” emphasizing that all government schemes must reach the grassroots level. “Our priority is to ensure development under the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,'” he added.

Ajay Kumar Poddar expressed that the cabinet reflects direction and governance. He noted that it was their lifelong dream to pay tribute to Syama Prasad Mukherjee during his lifetime, calling it their greatest achievement. “Fulfilling the aspirations of the people and reconstructing ‘Sonar Bangla’ is our priority. We cannot achieve this alone; we must work shoulder to shoulder with all citizens,” he stated.

Rajya Sabha MP Harsh Vardhan Shringla commented on the cabinet expansion, stating that the government has come to power based on a strong public mandate. “The people of Bengal wanted change, and they have received it. We now have a robust cabinet led by Suvendu Adhikari,” he said.

BJP MP Raju Bista highlighted that the full cabinet expansion in West Bengal has occurred under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, with the blessings of the party’s national leadership. “The people of West Bengal have been waiting for this day for a month,” he noted.

Union Minister Shantanu Thakur assured that the newly formed government would work in the right direction, aiming for a developed India as envisioned by the Prime Minister. He stated, “When India develops, West Bengal will not lag behind.”

BJP legislator Jagannath Chattopadhyay expressed gratitude for the opportunity given to him by the party. BJP leader Tapas Roy emphasized the need to work for the progress of Bengal.

BJP legislator Ashok Dinda shared that he never imagined he would become a minister. “I entered politics to change Bengal. Now that the BJP government is in place, I hope Bengal progresses swiftly,” he said.

Deepak Barman, another BJP legislator, mentioned that he would refrain from commenting on past events but assured that they would strive to meet the expectations of the people who brought the BJP to power. He noted that the new cabinet formed by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari represents the entire state, indicating a focus on overall development and welfare.

Tapas Roy reiterated that while hopes remain, the previous government failed to fulfill them. “Every sector has suffered, and the situation has deteriorated over the past 15 years. Reviving West Bengal will be a challenging task,” he acknowledged.

BJP MP Jagannath Sarkar expressed hope, stating that Bengal has lagged in development and needs to move forward. “Just as India is progressing under PM Modi, Bengal should also advance under Suvendu Adhikari’s leadership. Our goal is to transform Bengal into ‘Sonar Bangla,'” he concluded.

BJP legislator Swapna Dasgupta remarked that this is just the beginning. “When you come to a devastated area, you first need to clear the debris before moving on to constructive work. Essentially, we are conducting a cleanup operation,” he stated.
