Vice President Radhakrishnan Celebrates 75 Years of Yoga Education in Lonavala

Lonavala, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan addressed the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Gordhandas Seksaria College of Yoga and Cultural Synthesis at Kaivalyadhama in Lonavala on September 18. He congratulated the college for completing 75 years dedicated to yoga education, research, and cultural synthesis. This occasion is particularly significant as Kaivalyadhama marks a century of dedicated service to yoga.

Reflecting on the contributions of Swami Kuvalayananda, the founder of Kaivalyadhama established in 1924, Radhakrishnan noted that he championed the scientific study of yoga at a time when it was largely viewed as a mystical practice. He emphasized the need to preserve this legacy for future generations, stating, “Yoga is not for one generation; it is for every generation to come.”

Radhakrishnan also highlighted the growing global acceptance of yoga, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ongoing efforts to promote its message on international platforms. He remarked that yoga is now practiced across all nations, cultures, and communities.

Discussing the rapid changes in life due to technological advancements and digital connectivity, the Vice President pointed out that yoga offers an opportunity to pause, focus, reflect, and reconnect with oneself. He explained that yoga helps bridge the gap between mind and body, promoting both physical and mental well-being.

Addressing young students, Radhakrishnan acknowledged the immense energy, talent, and ambition present among India’s youth. He noted that when combined with discipline and awareness, this potential can be fully realized. Referring to Patanjali’s concept of calming the mind, he stated that the ability to focus is particularly relevant in today’s age of constant information overload.

He asserted that any effort made with good intentions and a true commitment to societal well-being can leave a lasting legacy. “Good legacies never die; they continue to inspire and benefit future generations,” he said, citing Kaivalyadhama’s century-long journey as a vibrant testament to this enduring truth.

The Vice President extended his congratulations to the college’s trustees, principals, teachers, students, and alumni, while also honoring the vision of Swami Kuvalayananda and the contributions of Seth Makhanlal Seksaria.

During the event, he also released “Yoga Explained – Learn from the Master,” written by O.P. Tiwari. He toured the campus, engaging with students and encouraging them to cultivate values of discipline, concentration, and self-awareness through yoga practice.

Notable attendees included Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, former Union Minister and President of Kaivalyadhama Global Suresh Prabhu, CEO of Kaivalyadhama Global Subodh Tiwari, chief patron Rakesh Seksaria, faculty members, students, alumni, and other distinguished guests.
