Farrukhabad, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : The city of Farrukhabad came alive on September 18 as residents celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi with great enthusiasm. Colorful processions filled the streets, featuring idols of Lord Ganesh being paraded through various neighborhoods, accompanied by music and dance.
Devotees from both the city and surrounding rural areas gathered at Panchal Ghat, where they performed rituals before immersing the idols in the water. Throughout the city, pandals were decorated, showcasing beautifully crafted Ganesh idols. Notably, in the Nitganja neighborhood, a grand procession featured a Ganesh idol placed on a tractor-trolley, followed by another procession in the Katra area.
The celebrations included a traditional matki phod event, where a pot was hung at a height of about ten feet, and local youths took turns to break it. The procession was led by a DJ, energizing the crowd as young people danced along. Behind them, performers from Kali Akhara showcased their skills, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Over 200 participants joined the procession, which was welcomed with flower showers at various points along the route. The procession reached Panchal Ghat around 5 PM, where further idol immersions took place.
Idols from Bajaria and Talaiya Fazal were also immersed in the Ganges, with devotees carrying them accompanied by drums and music. Other idols from locations near the railway station and Mohalla Chhatta Dalpat Rai were immersed as well.
As the processions unfolded, participants joyfully threw colored powders and danced, while prasad was distributed among the crowd. At Panchal Ghat, local authorities prepared pits for the immersion of the idols with the assistance of JCB machines. After completing the rituals, the idols were immersed, accompanied by chants of devotion from the gathered devotees.
To ensure safety during the celebrations, police and administrative officials were deployed at Panchal Ghat. By 3:30 PM, eight idols had already been immersed, according to official reports.
