Punjab Government Increases DA for Employees and Pensioners Ahead of Festivals
The Punjab government raises the Dearness Allowance for 800,000 employees and pensioners by 8% to provide financial relief before the festivals.

Chandigarh, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : The Punjab government has announced an 8% increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for nearly 800,000 employees and pensioners, providing significant relief ahead of the festive season. This increase will be reflected in the salaries starting from September.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann emphasized that this decision showcases the government’s commitment to the welfare and respect of its employees. He described the employees as the backbone of the state’s administrative framework.
In addition to the DA hike, Mann announced mandatory monthly meetings with employee representatives to discuss pressing issues. He also pledged to ensure that female employees are posted within a 40-kilometer radius of their homes. Furthermore, the government has successfully filled around 70,000 positions through a transparent and corruption-free process.
During a meeting with employee representatives, Mann listened to their concerns and opted for dialogue and solutions over conflict. He stated, “According to the decision, employees and pensioners will receive two installments of 4% each, which will be visible in their salaries starting October 1. This decision will provide additional financial support to thousands of government employees, pensioners, and their families before the festivals.”
Mann reiterated the importance of employee satisfaction, stating, “A happy employee is a productive employee. When employees work with satisfaction, respect, and peace of mind, the entire system functions better, and citizens receive improved services.”
He concluded by noting that government employees are not just part of the administrative system but are essential to its functioning. They play a crucial role in delivering essential services and implementing welfare schemes, ensuring that the government reaches the common people.
