Mumbai, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) held its 95th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 18, 2026, at its headquarters in Mumbai. During this meeting, Arun Singh Dhumal was re-elected as the Chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), along with M. Khairul Jamal Majumdar, who represents the Indian Cricketers Association (ICA) on the IPL Governing Council.
With no other candidates nominated for these positions, Dhumal’s second term as IPL Chairman became official. The confirmation came after BCCI’s election officer A.K. Jyoti verified the nominations, ensuring administrative stability within the governing body of the franchise T20 league.
Another significant decision made at the AGM involved a revision of the payment structure for domestic umpires and match referees. The assembly unanimously approved a new grading system for these officials. Additionally, the BCCI greenlit several financial and administrative proposals, formally accepting the audited accounts for the 2025-26 fiscal year and approving the budget for 2026-27. The appointment of auditors for the upcoming financial cycle was also sanctioned.
Looking ahead, the BCCI plans to celebrate the 20th edition of the IPL in 2027 with a grand event. Preparations are already underway to mark this milestone in a significant manner, as the tournament approaches its two-decade anniversary.
Moreover, the BCCI has started planning for its centenary celebrations in 2028. According to the board, this event will not be limited to a single occasion but will span the entire year. The centenary festivities are set to commence in December 2027 and will highlight the glorious journey of Indian cricket and its contributions to the sport.
The AGM also included important policy decisions. The board established a new internal committee under the “Prevention of Sexual Harassment” (POSH) policy to enhance the handling of complaints and promote a safe working environment. Furthermore, the BCCI updated its “Age Verification Policy,” which is crucial for maintaining transparency in age-group competitions and preventing age fraud.
Discussion also focused on the development of disabled cricketers. The assembly emphasized the need to improve facilities, strengthen infrastructure, and provide essential resources in collaboration with state cricket associations to offer better opportunities and support.
Prominent figures in cricket administration attended the meeting, including BCCI President Mithun Manhas, Vice President Rajeev Shukla, and Secretary Devjeet Saikia. Notable cricket personalities such as Sourav Ganguly and Venkatesh Prasad also participated, representing various state cricket associations.
