Nanning, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : The 23rd China-ASEAN Expo and the China-ASEAN Trade and Investment Summit officially launched on September 17 in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Vice Premier Ting Shweiyang, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee, participated in the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote address.
In his speech, Ting emphasized that the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area serves as a vital platform for building a community with a shared future. He recalled the proposal made by Chinese President Xi Jinping during the commemorative summit in November 2021, marking the 30th anniversary of dialogue relations between China and ASEAN. Xi called for the prompt establishment of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area 3.0, aiming to elevate the free trade area to a higher level. Thanks to the joint efforts of both parties, the free trade area has been operating smoothly, yielding fruitful results and effectively promoting regional economic integration and development, benefiting the people of the region.
Ting outlined four key recommendations for constructing a high-level China-ASEAN Free Trade Area. First, he urged comprehensive improvements in the level of regional openness. Second, he encouraged the enhancement of trade and investment cooperation. Third, he advocated for deeper and more practical collaboration in emerging sectors. Finally, he called for the promotion of more convenient and efficient connectivity.
Following the opening ceremony, Ting visited the exhibition hall, engaging in discussions with leaders from participating organizations.
On September 16, Ting Shweiyang held separate meetings with Myanmar’s Vice President U Nyan Tun, Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc, and Laos’ Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith.
