Dehradun, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami of Uttarakhand celebrated his birthday on September 16 by spending time with visually impaired children at the National Institute for the Visually Handicapped in Dehradun. He emphasized the importance of empowering differently-abled children through education and training.
On this special occasion, Dhami expressed his belief that every day is a new beginning in life. “I try to spend my birthday with differently-abled children. It has always been my habit to start my day here,” he stated.
Speaking to reporters, Dhami highlighted the efforts made by Prime Minister Modi to enhance the lives of the disabled community through various initiatives. He stressed the need for more than just sympathy, advocating for empowerment and active participation. “Those who have opportunities are performing well in every field,” he noted.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that the youth of the state are celebrating this day as ‘Youth Day’ and ‘Resolution Day,’ aiming to reach areas where systems and facilities are lacking. “We are working to expand services and support in these regions,” he added.
Dhami reflected on the progress made in the last twelve years under PM Modi’s leadership, mentioning the resolution of over ten significant disputes among states. He pointed out that long-delayed projects in Uttarakhand, such as the Lakhwar, Jamrani, Song, and Kishau dam projects, are now advancing.
He explained that the Kishau dam project would benefit not only Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh but also Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. This initiative aims to address the challenges of cleaning the Yamuna, providing clean drinking water, and generating electricity.
On the occasion of Dhami’s birthday, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avadheshanand Giri extended his best wishes. He commended Dhami for establishing significant milestones in Uttarakhand, particularly the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), making the state the first in the country to pass such legislation.
Giri noted the remarkable development of pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand, highlighting the decrease in crime rates. He mentioned the extensive work done for the development of sacred places like Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunotri, Gangotri, and Haridwar, especially with the Kumbh Mela approaching, which Dhami is eagerly preparing for.
