New Delhi, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : The Supreme Court has issued directives to ensure the normal operation of metro and railway services, restore internet connectivity, and facilitate the seamless movement of citizens in New Delhi. The court emphasized that lawyers should face no hindrance in performing their professional duties.
Following the court’s ruling, senior advocate and Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal expressed gratitude towards the judiciary. He remarked that this decision reinstates public trust in the country’s legal system.
This hearing stemmed from a contempt petition regarding the alleged violation of court orders that led to the closure of metro stations and cancellation of train services. During the proceedings, the court provided instructions aimed at restoring various services and safeguarding citizens’ rights.
After meeting with Abhijit Dipke, founder of CJP, Sibal welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision. He stated, “We are very grateful for the Supreme Court’s order, which has restored faith in the judicial system for the people and professionals of India. Beyond this, we will not comment further.”
Advocate Kailash More reported that the court issued several significant directives. It mandated the restoration of internet services and ensured the normal functioning of all metro stations in Delhi.
Additionally, the court instructed that trains arriving from outside Delhi should be allowed to stop at New Delhi Railway Station and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station as usual.
The court also lifted restrictions on citizens’ movement in Delhi, which had caused difficulties for people traveling in and out of the city. Following the court’s orders, emphasis was placed on ensuring citizens’ freedom of movement.
More highlighted that the Supreme Court recognized peaceful protests as a fundamental right of citizens. He noted that individuals can protest lawfully and without arms.
He further stated that no person can be detained without following the due process of law. According to him, the court also issued directives regarding the release of those who had been detained.
