Ranchi, February 21: The Uttar Pradesh Parliamentary Affairs and Finance Minister, Suresh Khanna, has rejected demands to use loudspeakers in mosques during Ramadan. He stated that the government will make decisions in accordance with regulations, emphasizing that everyone must adhere to the law.
BJP leader Pratul Shah Dev supported the Uttar Pradesh government’s decision. In an interview, he asserted that nothing is greater than the law, and religion comes second. He stressed that the country operates under the law and the Constitution. He pointed out that the Supreme Court has imposed restrictions on loudspeakers, prohibiting their use from 10 PM to 6 AM. Therefore, granting exemptions for specific occasions is not appropriate.
He also mentioned that there should be a ban on conducting Friday prayers or Eid prayers on the streets, as this causes traffic disruptions and can trap ambulances. He urged people to pray inside mosques instead.
Regarding the Supreme Court’s directives, BJP leader Pratul Shah Dev highlighted ongoing allegations in West Bengal that local officials are acting as agents of the state government. He claimed that legitimate voters, particularly those aligned with the BJP, are being forcibly removed from the electoral rolls. He accused the administrative machinery of functioning entirely as an agent for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who has also alleged that Muslims are being targeted in the state.
He stated that targeting will indeed occur, particularly against Rohingya Muslims, illegal immigrants, and Bangladeshi Muslims, as they are not citizens of the country. He criticized Mamata Banerjee for allegedly protecting these individuals at the expense of local Muslims. He concluded by noting that the Supreme Court has acknowledged the unsatisfactory conditions in West Bengal, indicating a lack of trust in the local authorities to conduct fair inquiries.
