Maharashtra TET 2026 Exam Postponed Amid Paper Leak Concerns

Maharashtra TET 2026 Exam Postponed Amid Paper Leak Concerns

Pune, June 27: The Maharashtra State Examination Council has postponed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026, originally scheduled for June 28, due to concerns over a potential paper leak. This decision was made after police in Bhiwandi discovered individuals in possession of exam-related materials during an operation. An investigation is currently underway, and a case has been registered at the Bhiwandi police station.

According to the examination council, the TET 2026 was set to take place across 1,028 centers throughout Maharashtra. In light of recent irregularities in various competitive exams, particularly the NEET 2026, the council had implemented special measures to ensure the exam’s security. However, following a tip-off, a thorough investigation was initiated.

On the morning of June 27, Bhiwandi police received information regarding individuals possessing details related to the TET exam. Acting on this tip, police conducted a raid at the specified location. Officials from the Maharashtra State Examination Council were summoned to the scene to verify the seized materials.

Preliminary investigations revealed that some of the recovered questions matched those on the TET exam paper scheduled for June 28. Upon this confirmation, the examination council decided to postpone the exam immediately.

The council emphasized that conducting the Teacher Eligibility Test with complete transparency and fairness is its top priority. Given the seriousness of any irregularities or potential leaks, the exam has been postponed for now. The council has assured that a comprehensive investigation will be conducted, and updated information regarding the TET will be published on the Maharashtra State Examination Council’s website.

Following the emergence of this issue, political commentary has intensified. Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Ambadas Danve criticized the state government, stating, “The way the TET paper was leaked is reminiscent of the Maharashtra NEET paper leak. Yet, the government has learned nothing. The TET exam is much smaller in scale, yet the Maharashtra government has failed to conduct it securely.”
