Nashik, June 27: Maharashtra’s Nashik Cyber Police have successfully dismantled a significant interstate online betting racket, leading to the arrest of five individuals.
During this operation, authorities seized digital evidence and other materials linked to the illegal betting network. Cyber Crime Inspector Sanjay Pise provided insights into the operation, the arrests, and the ongoing investigation into the interstate betting syndicate.
Inspector Pise stated that the directive to act in Nashik came from top police leadership. The operation primarily targeted activities related to online betting. Authorities received information indicating that such activities were occurring in Nashik. Following this, they gathered comprehensive details before deciding to proceed with the operation.
Upon investigation, police discovered that the office had also relocated to a different area. A police team then conducted a raid at the site, resulting in the arrest of five suspects. They confiscated four laptops, 18 mobile phones, 53 bank passbooks, and other items from the scene.
Inspector Pise confirmed that cases have been registered against all suspects under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act. The police are currently investigating various aspects of the case.
Previously, on June 21, the Central District Cyber Police in Delhi arrested a fraudster involved in an online rental scam, defrauding a property owner of ₹34,999. Additionally, Shahdara police apprehended two bookies.
