Siliguri, 3 September (Kiran News): The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has detained three Bangladeshi nationals on charges of illegally residing in India. The accused have been identified as Amal Chandra Roy and his two sons, Gautam Roy and Pankaj Roy.

According to sources, SSB personnel from the 41st Battalion’s Kadomni camp conducted an operation in Mainaguri village, Kharibari, on Tuesday based on a tip-off. During the search, Amal Chandra Roy was found possessing Indian documents under the name “Amal Barman.” His sons Gautam Roy and Pankaj Roy were also apprehended, and several illegal documents were recovered from them.
Interrogation revealed that Pankaj (alias Preetam) had arrived in India on a visa in April 2024 but did not return after his visa expired. Gautam had allegedly entered India illegally through the Mekhliganj border with the help of an agent in December last year.
All three were handed over to Kharibari police station for further action on charges of illegal infiltration and overstaying after visa expiry. Police are investigating the matter further.
