Guna, June 27: Union Minister of Communications and Development of the Northeastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, has urged citizens to transform environmental protection and water conservation into a public movement. Scindia, who serves as the Member of Parliament for the Guna constituency in Madhya Pradesh, made this appeal during his visit to his parliamentary area on Saturday. He planted 700 saplings at the Kuno River source in Kanja village as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative, ‘One Tree in the Name of Mother.’
During the event, Scindia emphasized that environmental protection is not merely a campaign but a responsibility towards future generations. He stated that the conservation of water, forests, and land can only be achieved through public participation, urging every citizen to play an active role in planting trees and protecting water sources.
Scindia noted that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the ‘One Tree in the Name of Mother’ campaign is evolving into a nationwide movement. This initiative symbolizes our sensitivity towards environmental preservation, motherhood, and future generations. During the program, he inaugurated a check dam in Gram Chinera, built at a cost of 1.798 million.
He remarked that the construction of water structures and the conservation of water sources lay a strong foundation for a secure and prosperous India for future generations. Scindia also inaugurated a solar plant in Khutiyawad, which cost 200 million and will produce 7.5 million units of clean energy with a capacity of 4.5 megawatts. He stated that these plants are significant steps toward achieving self-reliance and the commitment to solar energy.
Scindia stressed that balancing development and environmental concerns is essential for building a developed India. Water conservation, expanding green cover, and enhancing natural resources are the foundations of sustainable development. He urged citizens to commit to planting and protecting more trees.
