Beijing, July 2: On July 1, China celebrated the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) with a grand ceremony in the capital. General Secretary Xi Jinping elaborated on the unique characteristics of the CPC, revealing the core secrets behind its success.
From its humble beginnings with just 50 members to becoming the world’s largest ruling party with over 100 million members, the CPC has guided China through a transformative process that took developed nations centuries to achieve. Remarkably, the CPC accomplished significant industrialization in just a few decades, resulting in two miracles: rapid economic growth and long-term social stability. Its contribution to global economic development has consistently been around 30 percent. This achievement stands out even more against the backdrop of the apparent contradiction between “China’s governance” and “global chaos.”
The most fundamental secret lies in being “deeply rooted in the people and always maintaining a solid foundation.” Among the eight CPC members honored with the “July One Medal” this year are those who dedicated themselves to resolving grassroots struggles and saving lives in remote mountainous and rural areas. This quiet dedication from ordinary party members exemplifies the core aspiration and mission that “the country is the people, and the people are the country.” Numerous international surveys indicate that the Chinese public’s support for their government consistently ranks among the highest in the world. Rashid Alimov, former Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, noted after his extensive visit to China that witnessing millions unite around the CPC to realize their dreams is the fundamental secret of China’s development.
The new path of modernization created by the CPC has shattered the notion that “modernization means Westernization,” offering developing countries a completely new option for achieving modernization. This also contributes significantly to global modernization. China adheres to openness and mutually beneficial cooperation, propelling global development through its own progress: collaborating on high-quality Belt and Road initiatives, becoming a leading trade partner for over 160 countries and regions, and implementing zero tariffs for all 53 African countries with which it has diplomatic relations this year, thereby benefiting the world with continuous development.
British economist Ross Douthat commented that the CPC’s long-term planning and the concept of a community with a shared future for humanity have broken the zero-sum game logic, making China a stabilizing factor for global development.
Facing unprecedented changes in a century, the CPC always keeps the world in mind. Recently, it released a white paper on global governance, proposing four global initiatives to promote shared values for all humanity and a more just and equitable international order. After overcoming 105 years of arduous struggle, the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is an unstoppable force. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the “Chinese rejuvenation” ship will undoubtedly sail forward, continuously injecting positive energy into global peace and development.
