
New Delhi, April 14: In a significant development, police have arrested two suspects in the assault case involving a senior army officer, a brigadier, and his son in the Vasant Vihar area of New Delhi. The incident occurred on April 11 in the Vasant Enclave neighborhood, where a dispute over alcohol consumption escalated into violence.
According to police reports, action intensified after identifying the Mercedes car involved in the incident, leading to the apprehension of both suspects.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Satender alias Sonu (49 years old) and Sanjay Sharma (56 years old), both residents of Mehram Nagar, New Delhi. Satender is reported to be the director of a company named ‘Chaudhary Aviation Private Limited,’ which is engaged in charter and cargo flight services, as well as aircraft and parts trading. Meanwhile, Sanjay Sharma operates the ‘Pandit Ji Dhaba’ located in Mehram Nagar.
During the investigation, police also seized the Mercedes vehicle used in the incident. Interrogations of both suspects are ongoing to uncover all aspects of the case.
Authorities confirmed that a case has already been registered at the Vasant Vihar police station, and further investigations are underway. Officials are also looking into other facts and potential suspects to ensure strict legal action against those responsible.
The incident reportedly took place around 10 PM on April 11, when the brigadier and his son stepped out for a walk after dinner. The brigadier recounted that upon exiting their home, they noticed two individuals in a car openly consuming alcohol. When they protested, an argument ensued. Sensing the situation escalating, the brigadier called the police and requested a PCR van, which took approximately 20 minutes to arrive.
During this time, tensions worsened. The individuals in the car summoned some associates, and soon 7-8 people arrived, attacking the brigadier’s son. When the brigadier attempted to intervene, he too faced physical aggression and mistreatment.
