Trump Issues Final Ultimatum to Iran Over Strait of Hormuz Access

Washington, April 6: President Donald Trump has repeatedly issued ultimatums to Iran regarding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran maintains that the strait remains fully open for its allies. In a recent statement, Trump granted Iran until Monday to comply. However, Iran reiterated its position that the Strait of Hormuz is open.

In a warning issued for Tuesday, Trump stated that if Iran does not open the Strait of Hormuz, its power plants and bridges would be targeted, leading to dire conditions. He wrote on Truth Social, “Tuesday in Iran will be known as ‘Power Plant and Bridge Day,’ a unique event. Foolish people, open this waterway immediately, or be prepared to face hellish conditions—just watch! God bless.”

In response to Trump’s post, the Iranian embassy in Finland stated, “The Strait of Hormuz is open, but passage may become difficult due to rising hostilities. Before making public statements on sensitive matters, it may be wise not to rely on updates from newly appointed military generals and to provide varied updates.” They also suggested that the tone and language of Trump’s recent post seemed to have been handled by novices unfamiliar with social media etiquette.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Trump adopted a tough stance, indicating that if Tehran does not meet U.S. demands, there could be large-scale attacks on Iranian infrastructure. He warned that if Iran does not act within the specified timeline, significant damage could occur to its power plants and essential properties.

Trump told The Wall Street Journal, “If they do nothing by Tuesday evening, they will have no power plants and no bridges standing. Iran could lose every power plant and every other facility across the country.” This statement highlights the potential severity of the attacks.

Despite maintaining a hardline approach, Trump suggested that Iranian leaders might still be open to negotiations. He stated, “We have it under control, really under control.” He also indicated that the U.S. is prepared to escalate military actions if Iran fails to respond.

The mention of extensive infrastructure damage has caught the attention of analysts, who argue that such actions would signify a significant escalation in conflict. The timeline Trump provided adds gravity to the situation, with the government setting clear expectations for Iran’s response.

Trump’s remarks in The Wall Street Journal suggest that if Iran does not meet U.S. demands, the government is ready to escalate tensions, even while leaving the door open for dialogue.

The history of confrontation between the U.S. and Iran is long-standing, encompassing disputes over nuclear activity, regional influence, and maritime security. Given its strategic importance, the Strait of Hormuz has often been at the center of these tensions.
