Bangladesh Welcomes Ceasefire Amid Middle East Tensions as a Step Towards Peace

New Delhi, April 9: Amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, Bangladesh has welcomed the recent ceasefire, calling it a significant and positive step towards peace. The country expressed hope that all parties involved will respect this truce.

In a statement from the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the announcement of a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between the U.S. and Israel was deemed commendable. Bangladesh believes this move is a constructive step towards reducing regional tensions.

Bangladesh anticipates that all parties will honor the ceasefire and utilize this opportunity to work towards a sustainable solution, aiming to establish lasting peace and stability throughout the region.

The nation commended the diplomatic efforts of all parties involved in facilitating the ceasefire. Bangladesh reiterated that all disputes should be resolved peacefully through dialogue and diplomacy.

In India, Israel’s Ambassador Reuven Azar also supported the ceasefire. He stated that Israel backs the truce and hopes that, following a significant weakening of Iran’s military capabilities and the resolution of existential threats, they will seriously consider the U.S.’s 15-point plan this time.

Meanwhile, following the ceasefire announcement, the U.S. Vice President referred to the agreement as “fragile,” noting that it is still in its early stages and its stability remains uncertain.

This ceasefire came after an ultimatum issued by the U.S. to Iran, which included conditions for reopening major maritime routes and halting activities that could disrupt global trade. Vance reported that, under President Donald Trump’s directive, negotiators made it clear that the ceasefire would be implemented in exchange for the opening of maritime routes.

Under the agreement, Iran has consented to reopen strategic waterways, while the U.S. and its allies have ceased military attacks. Vance confirmed, “Iran has agreed to open the waterways, and the U.S. has halted its attacks.”
