Agartala, June 24: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha called upon BJP workers and leaders to adhere to the principles and ideals of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while drawing inspiration from the life and contributions of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. He described Mukherjee as an extraordinary personality who dedicated his entire life to the service of the nation and its people.
After paying tribute to Mukherjee, the Chief Minister stated, “We must work for the welfare of the people by following his principles and ideology.”
Saha addressed the tribute event held at the BJP’s state office, commemorating the death anniversary of the great patriot, renowned educator, thinker, and founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.
While speaking at the event, Manik Saha emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, both the central and Tripura governments are committed to holistic development and public welfare, following the philosophy of integral humanism proposed by Deendayal Upadhyaya.
He noted that Mukherjee became the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calcutta at just 33 years old, making him the youngest person to hold that position.
The Chief Minister remarked, “The BJP is a family, and if we move forward while keeping in mind the ideals of the great leaders who inspire this family, we will create a positive and constructive environment. Our Prime Minister speaks of building a new India, and every state has a role in achieving this goal. Tripura is also steadily progressing towards the vision of a developed India by 2047.”
He highlighted that despite being born into a respected family, Mukherjee remained connected to the common people and worked for their interests.
Saha stated, “He lived a life like an ordinary person, despite his prestigious family background, and made the ultimate sacrifice for the country. Many have joined the BJP inspired by the ideologies of Mukherjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, and Prime Minister Modi. This is evident as the BJP currently governs in nearly 21 states across the country.”
The Chief Minister also emphasized the need to communicate the developmental works being carried out by the Narendra Modi government and the Tripura government to the public.
He concluded, “The BJP has strong policies and a clear ideological foundation. We must continue to move forward under these principles and ideals. Only then will we truly honor Mukherjee’s sacrifice. He taught us that the nation comes first, followed by the party, and then the individual.”
The event was attended by BJP state president Abhishek Debroy, former state president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, BJP Northeast coordinator and MP Sambit Patra, Assam-Tripura organizational general secretary Ravindra Raju, Tripura BJP in-charge Rajdeep Roy, members of the state cabinet, public representatives, and senior party leaders.
