Major Reshuffle in Tamil Nadu Police Department: 15 IPS Officers Transferred and Promoted

Chennai, June 25: The Tamil Nadu government has ordered a significant reshuffle in the police department, transferring, promoting, and assigning new posts to 15 IPS officers across the state. This decision was made by the Home Department as part of an administrative process aimed at strengthening policing and filling critical vacancies in various commissionerates and districts.

Among the notable transfers, D. Kannan, who served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Welfare and Estate in Greater Chennai Police, has been appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Headquarters and Administration in the Tambaram Police Commissionerate.

A. Velmurugan, the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Central Crime Branch in Tambaram, has been transferred to the DGP’s office in Chennai as Superintendent of Police/Assistant Inspector General of Police (Modernization).

IPS officer G. Stalin, currently on mandatory wait, has been appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Central Crime Branch in Tambaram. Similarly, D. Ramesh Babu, also on mandatory wait, has been appointed as Superintendent of Police for the Anti-Terrorism Squad in Chennai. V.V. Geethanjali has been designated as the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Crimes Against Women and Children branch in Greater Chennai Police, while P. Sundaravadivel has been appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Security in the same department.

R. Ramesh Krishnan, who was working in the Anti-Terrorism Squad in Madurai, has been transferred to Tiruppur city as Deputy Commissioner of Police (North).

K. Maheshwari, Superintendent of Police for the Tamil Nadu Commando Force in Chennai, has been appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Redhills in the Avadi Commissionerate.

In another significant change, IPS officer R. Udaykumar, the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Koyambedu in Greater Chennai Police, has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police for Tiruvannamalai district, replacing A.C. Karthikeyan, who has been assigned as the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Adyar in Greater Chennai Police.

Additionally, five Assistant Superintendents of Police have been promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Police. Kunal Uttam Shrote, Akash Joshi, Anshul Nagar, Arpita Rajput, and Banavath Arvind have been promoted and assigned important responsibilities in Chennai, Tiruppur, Tirunelveli, Crime Branch-CID, and Tiruchirappalli, respectively.

This reshuffle, approved by Additional Chief Secretary K. Manivasan, is expected to strengthen leadership in several key police units in Tamil Nadu, including Crime Investigation, Anti-Terror Operations, Women and Child Safety, District Policing, and Urban Law Enforcement.
