Bhopal, June 25: Senior minister and BJP leader Rakesh Singh stated on Wednesday that if there is evidence of wrongdoing in any property or land transactions, there should be no objections to an investigation.
His remarks come amid escalating political controversy surrounding allegations against Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and his family regarding land purchases. The Congress party has demanded a judicial inquiry, while the BJP has rallied behind the Chief Minister.
Speaking to reporters in Jabalpur, Singh offered a measured response, asserting that if property was acquired improperly, it should be exposed. He accused Congress of attempting to politicize the issue, emphasizing that it should not be used for defamation or misinformation but rather for presenting facts to the public.
The controversy has intensified over the past two days, with the Madhya Pradesh Congress raising the issue first in Bhopal and then at the party headquarters in Delhi. Congress leaders argue that since the matter involves relatives of a sitting Chief Minister, a fair investigation is essential.
The BJP has categorically dismissed these allegations, claiming they are part of a politically motivated campaign by the opposition aimed at tarnishing the Chief Minister’s image.
BJP state president Hemant Khandelwal released a video message on Tuesday night, labeling the allegations as misleading and defending the Chief Minister. On Wednesday, several ministers and senior BJP leaders also came forward in support of the Chief Minister. However, Mohan Yadav has yet to make any public statement regarding the controversy.
It is noteworthy that the allegations suggest that the Chief Minister’s relatives have acquired large tracts of land in areas where several government projects have been approved.
