
Guwahati, June 25: The Assam government has announced a significant administrative reshuffle, transferring and appointing over 20 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Assam Civil Service (ACS) officials. This move includes several district commissioners (DCs) and senior bureaucrats. The government states that the aim is to enhance administrative efficiency and good governance.
According to a notification issued by the Personnel Department, leadership changes have been made in several key departments, including finance, home and political affairs, agriculture, irrigation, education, and Barak Valley development.
Senior IAS officer Syedain Abbasi, who served as the Special Chief Secretary for Public Health Engineering and Water Resources, has been relieved of his additional responsibilities in the Housing and Urban Affairs Department. He has now been assigned additional charge of the Irrigation Department.
Om Prakash has been transferred and appointed as the Commissioner and Secretary of the Environment and Forest Department, as well as the Skill, Employment, and Entrepreneurship Department. He was previously the Managing Director of the Samagra Shiksha Assam Mission.
Deba Prasad Mishra, the District Commissioner of Hojai, has been appointed Secretary in the Home and Political Department. Meanwhile, Madhusudan Nath, the District Commissioner of Chirang, has been appointed Secretary in the Agriculture Department.
Megha Nidhi Dahal, the District Commissioner of Dhubri, has been given the additional charge of Secretary in the Finance Department and Managing Director of the Assam Infrastructure Development Corporation.
Rohan Kumar Jha, the District Commissioner of Barpeta, has been appointed Secretary in the Barak Valley Development Department.
Significant changes have also occurred at the district level. Ayush Garg, the District Commissioner of Cachar, has been appointed Managing Director of the Samagra Shiksha Assam Mission. Dibakar Nath, the District Commissioner of Bongaigaon, has been appointed District Commissioner of Dhubri.
Rahul Kumar Gupta, the District Commissioner of South Salmara-Mankachar, has been appointed District Commissioner of Cachar. Jay Vikas, the District Commissioner of Udalguri, has been appointed District Commissioner of Hailakandi.
Srishti Singh, the District Commissioner of Majuli, has been transferred to Morigaon. Parikshit Thoudam has been appointed District Commissioner of South Salmara-Mankachar, while ACS officer Sanjay Dutt has been appointed District Commissioner of Hojai.
Additionally, Ratul Chandra Pathak has been appointed District Commissioner of Majuli, Navadweep Pathak to Barpeta, Pulak Patgiri to Udalguri, Karabi Saikia Karan to Biswanath, Lakhinandan Saharia to Bongaigaon, and Gokul Chandra Brahma to Chirang.
