Ramgarh, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic road accident occurred in the Chuttupalu Valley of Ramgarh district, Jharkhand, on Sunday, claiming the life of a woman and injuring five others. Among the injured are family members of DSP Akram Raza, who were traveling in the vehicle involved.
According to police reports, a container truck (registration NL 01AB 8418) lost its brakes while heading from Ranchi to Ramgarh. The container collided violently with a Honda car ahead, crushing it beneath its weight. Emergency services arrived promptly, utilizing a hydra and crane to rescue those trapped.
Two women and the driver from the car were rushed to the hospital immediately. A young girl, who was severely trapped inside the vehicle, was freed after about half an hour of intense effort and also taken to the hospital.
The car was carrying six members of DSP Akram Raza’s family, all en route from Ranchi to Ramgarh. Tragically, 45-year-old Sara Tabassum, the DSP’s aunt, died at the scene. Other injured family members include 48-year-old Firoz Rahi, 23-year-old Tarja Saliyan, and two children, Sifta Tajmeen and Amira Tajmeen, aged 10, along with Anuja Tabassum.
DSP Akram Raza arrived at the scene shortly after the accident. Senior police officials, including Ramgarh Superintendent Mukesh Kumar Lunayat and SDPO Alok Ranjan, visited the Sadar Hospital to check on the injured.
Chuttupalu Valley has gained notoriety among locals as a “death valley” due to the frequency of road accidents in the area. High speeds and the uncontrolled movement of heavy vehicles have led to ongoing safety concerns, prompting renewed scrutiny of the road safety measures implemented by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
