Delhi University Expresses Condolences After Tragic Building Collapse in Satya Niketan

Satya Niketan, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : Three individuals lost their lives in a tragic building collapse in Satya Niketan, New Delhi, on September 6, 2026. Nine others have been rescued so far. In response to this incident, Delhi University has expressed deep sorrow and pledged to offer any necessary assistance.

In a post on social media platform X, the university stated, “We are deeply saddened by the building collapse incident in Satya Niketan. Our condolences are with the affected students and their families. We pray for the safe recovery of everyone trapped in the debris and are ready to provide any support to our students.”

Nitin Naveen, the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), also expressed his grief over the incident. He communicated with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta regarding the ongoing relief efforts.

In a message on X, Naveen described the incident as “very concerning” and mentioned that he spoke with Chief Minister Gupta to assess the situation. He assured that rescue operations are being conducted at full scale, and efforts are being made to provide immediate medical assistance to the injured. “I pray for the safety and well-being of all those affected during this difficult time,” he added.

Alongside Chief Minister Gupta, Lieutenant Governor Tarunjeet Singh Sandhu and Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Neeraj Thakur visited the site to oversee the rescue operations.

The Chief Minister’s office (CMO) released a statement on X, confirming that Gupta is present at the site in Satya Niketan, closely monitoring the rescue efforts with senior officials and relevant authorities. The statement further emphasized that all agencies are on-site working collaboratively, with a particular focus on safely extracting children. The rescue and relief operations are ongoing at an urgent pace.

The Chief Minister noted that a comprehensive emergency response campaign is underway at the site of the unfortunate building collapse, with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Fire Service, Delhi Police, DDMA, MCD, CATS, and civil defense present to assist in the efforts.
