New Delhi, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic building collapse in the Satya Niketan area of New Delhi has prompted expressions of sorrow from several high-profile leaders, including Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They conveyed their condolences to the families of the deceased and wished for the swift recovery of the injured, while emphasizing the importance of ongoing rescue operations.
Vice President Radhakrishnan shared his deep sadness on social media platform X, extending heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the disaster and praying for the quick recovery of those injured.
Prime Minister Modi described the incident as extremely tragic, expressing his sympathies to the bereaved families. He noted that local authorities are actively engaged in rescue efforts and providing necessary assistance to those impacted.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed his grief over the loss of precious lives in the incident. He stated that his thoughts are with the grieving families and confirmed that rescue operations are ongoing, with efforts to ensure the safety of those affected. He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Central Minister Pralhad Joshi lamented the collapse of the private building near Delhi University’s South Campus. He mentioned that he had spoken with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who is personally overseeing the rescue operations. Joshi assured that all necessary measures are being taken swiftly to assist those in need and to ensure the safe evacuation of individuals trapped in the debris.
Earlier, Chief Minister Gupta visited the site to assess the situation and gather detailed information from the officials present about the incident and the ongoing rescue efforts.
According to Delhi police, the affected building was approximately 40 to 50 years old, featuring one basement and five upper floors, and was being used as a paying guest accommodation. At the time of the collapse, repair work was underway in the basement. Rescue operations are actively continuing as teams search for individuals trapped beneath the rubble.
