Ahmedabad Rail Division Sets New Record with 85 Rakes Loaded in One Day

Ahmedabad, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : The Ahmedabad Rail Division of Western Railway has achieved a remarkable milestone in freight transport by loading 85 rakes and 3,580 wagons in a single day on September 5. This accomplishment surpasses the division’s previous record, which stood at 80 rakes and 3,525 wagons loaded in one day.

According to railway officials, this is the highest freight loading recorded in the operational history of the Ahmedabad Division. Notably, the division loaded 42 container rakes in a single day, including 21 double-stack container rakes. Additionally, the loading included 6 automobile rakes, 8 salt rakes, and 17 fertilizer rakes.

Divisional Railway Manager Ved Prakash attributed this achievement to the coordinated efforts of various teams within the division, effective operational planning, and optimal utilization of available freight capacity.

This new record follows an impressive performance in August, during which the Ahmedabad Division transported 4.465 million tons of goods and generated freight revenue of ₹631.31 crore.

Operationally, the division also showed strong performance, averaging 218.84 train interchanges per day in August, a 2.5% increase compared to the previous year. The average interchange at dedicated freight corridor points rose to 100.81 trains per day, reflecting an 11.8% increase year-on-year.

In August, the division operated 365 long-distance freight trains. Ved Prakash congratulated the operational and commercial staff, as well as officials and employees of DFCCIL, for this record achievement.

The increase in freight loading is expected to facilitate smooth transportation of essential goods and other items, contributing positively to the railway’s freight revenue. The Ahmedabad division is a crucial rail segment, currently operating approximately 142 railway stations.
