
Madurai, May 22: A tragic incident occurred in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, during construction work. A wedding hall was being built near an old theater in the Sulaiman area of the Silaiman police jurisdiction.
Suddenly, the ground gave way, trapping two female workers beneath the debris. Panic ensued in the area, prompting local residents to immediately alert the police and rescue teams.
Reports indicate that 40-year-old Dhanalakshmi lost her life in the accident. Her body has been recovered from the rubble. The second worker, Lakshmi, a resident of the Puliyankulam area in Madurai, remains trapped under the soil. Rescue operations are ongoing to free her.
Fire and rescue services arrived promptly at the scene following the incident. Rescue teams are diligently working to remove the debris using heavy machinery and other equipment. Officials stated that the operation is being conducted with utmost caution to ensure the safe retrieval of the trapped woman.
