New Delhi, August 21: Congress leader Danish Ali has responded sharply to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s comments regarding the Vande Mataram controversy. He emphasized that the same two verses, established by Gandhi, Nehru, Patel, and Tagore, are sung at every Congress session. Ali accused the BJP of misleading the youth, shutting down 94,000 schools in Uttar Pradesh, privatizing education, and conducting police encounters.
Regarding the Vande Mataram issue, Ali questioned BJP leaders, asking, “Why didn’t you sing Vande Mataram in RSS branches? Why did you choose to sing a different anthem? It’s surprising that Vande Mataram is being remembered after 80 years. The two verses decided by Rabindranath Tagore, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, and Mahatma Gandhi are always sung at Congress sessions. Where does the controversy arise?”
He further stated that the BJP has nothing to offer the youth.
On the protests by children in Uttar Pradesh, he noted, “The government has closed down 94,000 schools in the last 12 years. The remaining schools lack teachers and basic facilities because opportunists have taken power. The pace of privatization in education is such that poor children cannot access affordable education. The cost of privatized education is so high that ordinary children cannot afford it.”
Addressing the NCERT issue, he remarked, “The BJP’s mindset is anti-science and anti-modernization. They disparage Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru because of his scientific thinking and the foundation he laid for modern India. They also despise Rajiv Gandhi’s vision for a modern nation. This attitude is against every scientific temperament that prepares the youth for competition.”
On the Uttar Pradesh police encounters, he stated that there is no law and order in the state. It has been made such that those who return from encounters are promoted.
Commenting on the arrest of Aam Aadmi Party leader Satyendar Jain, he mentioned that a significant scam has occurred in Delhi’s health sector, yet he has not seen any high-level political arrests.
