Lucknow, August 28: On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the Uttar Pradesh government is offering free travel for women on state roadways. Women traveling to meet their brothers and families have expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for this initiative.
Many women stated that while receiving gifts from their brothers is special, the government’s provision for free travel is a significant Raksha Bandhan gift in itself. The joy on the faces of elderly women was particularly evident.
Due to an increase in passenger numbers on various routes, including Shahjahanpur to Sitapur, Delhi, Hardoi, and Ayodhya, additional bus services have been arranged. The depot administration has also implemented extra measures to manage the crowds.
According to the Shahjahanpur depot operator, this special service is available from 6 AM on August 27 to midnight on August 29. One male passenger can accompany each female traveler for free. Approximately 217 buses are being utilized to manage the arrangements in Shahjahanpur. The influx of passengers has been noticeable since morning, prompting the increase of additional trips. Services to Sitapur and Ballia have been enhanced, while a 24-hour bus service to Delhi has also been established. The depot operator assured that there is no shortage of buses.
One female traveler remarked on the government’s commendable initiative, expressing her thanks to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. She shared that due to financial constraints, she previously found it challenging to travel easily. With the free travel service, she is now able to visit her family in Hardoi from Shahjahanpur.
A student also praised the initiative, stating that it allows her to visit her brothers with ease on Raksha Bandhan.
Meanwhile, a professor from BHU highlighted that on August 28, sisters can tie Rakhi on their brothers’ wrists throughout the day. He advised that after completing daily rituals, sisters should worship their deities and seek blessings from their parents before performing the Tilak ceremony. Following this, brothers should be adorned with flower garlands and honored with an Aarti.
He emphasized that on Raksha Bandhan, brothers give gifts to their sisters and pledge to protect them throughout their lives. He encouraged everyone to celebrate this festival together, in a pious and traditional atmosphere, wearing Indian attire, to instill a sense of Indian culture and traditions in the younger generation.
