Gandhinagar, August 28: More than 100,000 citizens in Gujarat have successfully obtained essential certificates from the comfort of their homes through the ‘Sugam Digital Gujarat’ portal. Over the past four months, seven key certificate services have been made available online, marking a significant shift towards digital delivery of government services.
The state government has introduced seven certificates on the portal, which are essential for welfare schemes, education, and recruitment processes. These include the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) certificate, Non-Creamy Layer certificate, Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) eligibility certificate, Unreserved category certificate, Religious Minority certificate, Non-Notified Tribe certificate, and Income certificate.
Officials stated, “Under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and led by Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Pradyuman Singh Jadeja and State Minister Manishaben Vakil, this initiative allows applicants to apply for online certificates without visiting government offices.” After document verification, applicants can receive digitally issued certificates online, complete with e-signatures.
These certificates will also be available via WhatsApp and DigiLocker, enabling users to save and access them as needed. This facility is expected to be particularly beneficial for students and youth preparing for government recruitment.
Certificates required for college admissions, scholarships, and recruitment can now be obtained online after verification, reducing the need for repeated visits to government offices and avoiding delays in processes requiring such documents.
The government has stated that the aim of the digital system is to minimize administrative delays and enhance transparency and timeliness in education, employment, and welfare services. Vikram Singh Jadeja, Director of Scheduled Caste Welfare, has urged citizens across the state to maximize the use of services available through the ‘Sugam Digital Gujarat’ portal instead of visiting government offices for certificates.
