Hyderabad, May 23: A tragic incident occurred in the Jangaon district of Telangana, where a father and son reportedly took their own lives. The event unfolded in the village of Bandalagudem, located in the Lingala Ghanpur mandal.
Lakshminarasimha Charyulu and his son Pawan Kumar Charyulu served as priests at the Lakshminarasimha Swamy Temple. Local residents discovered their bodies in a pond and promptly alerted the police. The bodies were retrieved and sent to a government hospital for post-mortem examination. Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that the priests may have taken this drastic step due to financial and familial issues.
Lakshminarasimha Charyulu’s wife, Shridevi, had passed away a month prior due to health complications. The police have registered a case and initiated further investigations.
In another incident in Khammam district, a woman was found dead in her home, with relatives alleging that her husband murdered her for insurance money. R. Meenakshi, 28, was discovered hanging in her house located in the outskirts of Khammam city.
Police detained her husband, R. Shivaji, after an old video surfaced showing him brutally assaulting Meenakshi. Relatives claimed that Shivaji had beaten her to death and attempted to stage it as a suicide.
They alleged that he was after an insurance policy worth 8 million rupees, which was taken out in Meenakshi’s name, and that he regularly abused and harassed her. Just hours after Meenakshi’s body was found, a video emerged showing Shivaji hitting her with a belt while she was bound, with the sound of their child crying in the background.
According to the police, this video was recorded by a relative of Meenakshi but was kept hidden due to family intervention and a mutual agreement. The police have confirmed that a case has been filed and investigations are underway. They are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine whether it was a case of suicide or murder. The police are currently questioning Shivaji as part of their investigation.
